VantageScore 4.0 & Mortgage Readiness
Since September 9, 2026, all Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac approved lenders may use VantageScore 4.0 for eligible loans sold to those entities. Classic FICO remains available. Ask your lender which model it uses for your program.
An app score may differ from the lender’s score by model, bureau or date. Approval also considers income, debts and program requirements. Do not rule yourself out based only on a free score.
